Hydrosensing is proud to share that Thorsten Hamann, one of our Principal Investigators, has been elected as a member of the Royal Norwegian Society of Sciences and Letters (DKNVS).

Founded in 1760 and based in Trondheim, DKNVS is Norway’s oldest scientific academy, recognizing outstanding contributions across the sciences and humanities. Election to the society is a significant honor, reflecting international excellence in research.

The formal admission ceremony took place a few weeks ago in March 2026, marking this important milestone. To celebrate the occasion, we are pleased to share a selection of photos from the ceremony, including moments from the formal dinner and a group picture of the newly admitted members.

As part of this recognition, Professor Hamann will present his work at the academy’s “New Members Present” lecture series in May 2026. His talk will highlight cutting-edge research on how plants perceive and respond to water availability: central themes of Hydrosensing and of growing importance in the context of global climate challenges.

We warmly congratulate Thorsten on this well-deserved recognition and look forward to his continued contributions to advancing our understanding of plant water sensing.
